A few words about us

 

Surface Distribution has been servicing the air freight industry since 1983. In 2000 we expanded our coverage to cover additional airports within Michigan to provide additional services for our customers. In 2004 Surface Distribution merged operations with Wilson Distribution. We are a non-asset based company providing air and ground support services to our customers both domestic and international. Our customers reach from California to New York, Canada to England.

Based in the Detroit area we run daily to Grand Rapids, Lansing, Flint, Saginaw and all places in between. All of our vehicles are lift gate fitted and equipped with pallet jacks, hand carts, blankets, shrink wrap, straps, and blankets. Our drivers are experienced, pleasant, uniformed, and professional. We do not use owner operators or pay our drivers by commission.

Our Statement

In the business of air freight forwarding, there is sometimes a question regarding the wholesaler's duty to maintain the proper distance from its client's own customers. Since the day we began operation, we have maintained unquestionable integrity in our retail transactions. In order to avoid any possible conflict-of-interest with those forwarders with whom we do business, we have always made it a point to "err on the side of caution" in dealing with the retail environment. As a general rule, Surface Distribution is an air freight cartridge agent, avoiding direct contact with retail accounts in order to protect the interests of our partners. However, there are times when substantial volume is shipped through a non-client or integrated carrier...enough to open that market to fair competition. When that happens, we feel that our company has the right to pursue that business. Of course, should one of our clients obtain the freight, we would be obliged to decline further contact with their new customer. In addition, Surface Distribution will never make an effort to obtain any freight outside our areas of specialty, as there are many other carriers that are better suited to satisfy those needs than we.
